Irregularities
In spite of all diligence, it can occur that baggage suffers damage or gets lost. In these cases, our Lost & Found will issue a Property Irregularity Report (PIR).
We recommend that you take out a baggage insurance.
Guidelines of Edelweiss Air AG for Processing Baggage Irregularities
- Upon detection of the damage or loss, such must be reported immediately to the Lost & Found at the destination airport (respective offices are located close to the baggage conveyor belt). Passengers suffering damage or loss of baggage must always receive a copy of the Property Irregularity Report and keep it together with the air ticket and baggage claim tag. Baggage irregularities which are not reported in due time will not be accepted.
- Claims will be examined by the Edelweiss Air Lost & Found after the trip and based on sent-in receipts.
- Baggage Damage (always fill in Damage Report):
a) Baggage repairs will be carried out exclusively by our own repair service. Repair costs incurred by other repair services will only be accepted in exceptional cases and on the basis of prior consultation with Edelweiss Air.
b) If a damaged piece of luggage is irreparable, this will be confirmed exclusively by our repair service. The reimbursement amount corresponds to the present value of the damaged baggage piece.
c) No liability will be assumed for damaged baggage contents (insufficient or improper packaging). - The airline is not liable for thefts from baggage. Passengers must report thefts to their theft insurance.
- In the event that a piece of baggage cannot be found within a reasonable time period, this qualifies as a total loss. Reimbursements are examined by the Edelweiss Air Lost & Found and occur upon presentation of a content list with receipts, at present value.
- It is not permitted to transport valuable items and documents as checked baggage.
