Security Checks for Hand Luggage (Liquids)
The Swiss hand luggage regulations for air passengers have been adapted to the EC regulations. These standards are in use on all Edelweiss Air destinations and apply also to the transit areas. The limits apply in particular to liquids.
The new laws on hand luggage, passed by the European Commission, allow only travel-size toiletries (100 ml or less) to be taken on board. Each passenger is allowed to take several of these travel-size containers on board, all however must be stowed comfortably in one clear plastic zip-top bag with a volume of 1 litre. This bag has to be screened separately at the security check. It is also required to screen laptops and other larger electronic devises separately.

Exceptions
- Essential medicines sufficient and essential for the flight (e.g. diabetic kit), in their original packaging.
- Baby milk and liquid baby food (the contents of each bottle or jar must be tasted in the presence of the security personnel by the accompanying passenger).
Security Checks for Hand Luggage (Sharp Objects)
Sharp objects exceeding a length of 5cm may not be carried in your hand luggage. Other objects may also be regarded as dangerous and be confiscated by the security authorities, e.g.: knives, hair-pins, nail-files, manicure sets, scissors, tweezers, knitting needles and sewing needles.
Important Information about Hand Baggage
It can occasionally occur that baggage arrival is delayed at the place of destination. Therefore we recommend you carry important items, such as toiletries, swimming costumes etc. in your hand baggage.
Valuable items, personal documents, travel documents, business papers, keys and medication also belong in your hand baggage.
However, please note that hand baggage may weigh no more than 10 kg and must not exceed the dimensions 56 cm x 45 cm x 25 cm.
In order to evacuate the air-craft as quickly as possible in the event of an emergency, it is important that the emergency exits and aisles are kept free. Please store your hand baggage in the baggage compartment above your seat. If there is no room in the compartments, the cabin crew can insist that hand baggage be stowed in the baggage hold. In the event of an evacuation it is important to leave the aircraft as quickly as possible and to leave your hand baggage behind.
