Cancun
Cancun - which in the seventies was designed literally on the drawing-board - is considered to be a tourist centre of a very special kind: The Caribbean Sea surges in brilliant green to the east of the 20 km, long massive sandbank, lined by beaches of the finest quality. To the west, toward a close to 100 km2 lagoon, the sandy terrain slips into a mangrove swamp. In addition to its unique landscape, Cancun has an immense choice of shopping and entertainment options. Furthermore, the hotel zone with its perfect infrastructure is generally considered to be among the best anywhere.
